Doom (Video Game) $81.25 Doom (often typeset as DOOM is a landmark 1993 firstperson shooter computer game by id Software. It is widely recognized for popularizing the first person shooter genre, pioneering immersive 3D graphics, networked multiplayer gaming, and support for customized additions and modifications (called WADs ). Its graphic and interactive violence, as well as its satanic imagery, also made it the subject of considerable controversy. With a third of the game (9 levels) distributed as shareware, Doom was played by an estimated 10 million people within two years of its release, popularizing the mode of gameplay and spawning a gaming subculture; as a sign of its effect on the industry, games from the mid1990s boom of firstperson shooters are often known simply as Doom clones. According to GameSpy, Doom was voted by industry insiders to be the greatest game of all time in 2004. The Doom franchise was continued with Dooms followup Doom II: Hell on Earth (1994) and numerous expansion packs, including The Ultimate Doom (1995), Master Levels for Doom II (1995), and Final Doom (1996). Video Game Music Culture $46.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Video game music, with the help of the internet, has developed into its own culture with many extensions beyond existence as a body of musical work. Fans of video game music have convened on the net and in person in various capacities. Many inspired communities have flourished as a result, despite not being directly involved with video games or game production. Fans have recorded human performances of game music, both in concert and in the studio. Some have also taken a more technical approach, such as the chiptune and mod communities that emulate the sound adapters from older computers and consoles. Other more technically focused cultures develop or use emulators to play back sound files from the original game data or archive them for others to use. |

Music Video Game $44.79 A music video game, also commonly known as a music game, is a video game where the gameplay is meaningfully and often almost entirely oriented around the player’s interactions with a musical score or individual songs. Music video games may take a variety of forms and are often grouped with puzzle games due to their common use of rhythmically generated puzzles. Strong support for the convergence of live music and video games is evident with the success of the Video Games Live concert series. Emergent games for live concert performance, game-scores, augment traditional western music notation with the dramatic elements of animation, interactivity, graphic elements and aleatoric principals. The concept of incorporating Game Theory and music is not new and can be traced back to Musikalisches Wrfelspiel. Music video games are distinct from purely audio games in that they feature a visual feedback, to lead the player through the game’s soundtrack, although eidetic music games can fall under both categories. |

The game setting? A subdivision with identical houses. The goal? Smash through an army of zombies to escape the neighborhood for good. But as the line blurs between virtual and reality, both parents and players realize that fear has a life of its own. "Playing like a nifty episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’, the story builds to an affectingly gruesome finale…with its small-scale tech demands and four-person ensemble, Neighborhood seems a likely candidate for legit troupes hoping to benefit from the play’s youthful, tech-savvy appeal." -Variety Magazine "When our player pounds on the video door, and we hear the bang on his own front door, it’s genuinely, brilliantly chilling." – Denver Post "Haley’s suspenseful play beamed cautionary messages about inattentive parents of teenagers addicted to online video games. A sense of unease about the diminishing line between real life and virtual reality lingered for days after the suburban zombies in Neighborhood 3 were vanquished with weed whackers and hedge clippers." – Louisville Courier-Journal |
